Connect Instagram

Connect an Instagram Business or Creator account through its linked Facebook Page.

Business or Creator account requirement

Prepost can support Instagram publishing only for Instagram Business or Creator accounts. Personal Instagram accounts are not enough for the official publishing flow.

Before connecting Instagram, confirm that the account is switched to Business or Creator in Instagram settings.

Linked Facebook Page requirement

Instagram publishing uses Meta's business connection flow. The Instagram account must be linked to a Facebook Page that the connecting user can manage.

Ask the user to confirm:

  • the Instagram account is Business or Creator;
  • the Instagram account is linked to the correct Facebook Page;
  • the Facebook user has management access for that Page;
  • the beta release currently has Instagram connection enabled.

OAuth connection steps

When Instagram connection is enabled for beta:

  1. Open Connected accounts in Prepost.
  2. Choose Instagram.
  3. Continue to Meta's authorization screen.
  4. Approve the requested permissions.
  5. Select the linked Facebook Page and Instagram account if Meta asks.
  6. Return to Prepost and confirm that Instagram appears as connected.

If Meta shows several Pages or Instagram accounts, select only the account the workspace should publish to.

Common permission and account type errors

Common issues:

  • the Instagram account is still a personal account;
  • the Instagram account is not linked to a Facebook Page;
  • the Facebook user is not a Page admin or manager;
  • Meta permissions were partially denied;
  • the wrong Facebook account was used during authorization;
  • Instagram connection is not enabled in the current beta environment.

If the account type or linked Page is wrong, fix that in Instagram/Facebook first, then restart the connection from Prepost.

Reconnect instructions

Use reconnect when Instagram access expires, the wrong account was selected, or Meta permissions changed.

  1. Open Connected accounts in Prepost.
  2. Find Instagram in the account list.
  3. Choose Reconnect.
  4. Complete the Meta authorization screen again.
  5. Confirm the correct Instagram Business or Creator account appears in Prepost.

If reconnect still selects the wrong account, disconnect Instagram from Prepost, sign out of Facebook and Instagram in the browser, sign back in with the correct admin account, and start the connection again.
