Why every platform has its own state
One post can target multiple networks. Each target can succeed, fail, wait for a scheduled time, or require manual completion.
Prepost should show status per platform so a user knows exactly which network needs attention.
Common states
Queued means the post is saved and waiting for its scheduled time.
Publishing means Prepost is currently trying to process that platform target.
Published means that platform target completed successfully.
Failed means the platform target did not complete. The post detail page should show a readable reason when one is available.
Retry available means the failure may be recoverable and the user can try again after fixing the underlying issue.
Manual required means Prepost prepared the content as far as the current integration allows, but the user must finish publishing inside the social app.
What to check before retry
Before retrying, confirm:
- the social account is still connected;
- the selected account belongs to the current workspace;
- the media file matches the platform's current requirements;
- the user still has permission to publish to the target account;
- the beta environment has that integration enabled.
When to recreate the post
Create a new post instead of retrying when:
- the wrong platform account was selected;
- the content changed significantly;
- media must be replaced;
- the platform account was disconnected and reconnected as a different identity.
