Connect social accounts

Connect TikTok

Connect TikTok, understand MVP media support, and know when manual publishing is required.

TikTok OAuth connection

When TikTok connection is enabled for beta, open Connected accounts in Prepost, choose TikTok, and continue to TikTok's authorization screen.

Approve the requested permissions and wait until Prepost returns you to the dashboard. The connected TikTok account should then appear in the Connected accounts list.

Account and app permission requirements

TikTok publishing depends on the account type, TikTok app approval, and the permissions granted during OAuth.

Before setup, confirm:

  • the user is signed in to the correct TikTok account;
  • the Prepost beta environment has TikTok connection enabled;
  • the TikTok app has the permissions required for the current beta flow;
  • the user approves every required permission during OAuth.

If TikTok denies or limits a permission, Prepost may be able to save the account but still require manual publishing for some posts.

Supported MVP media format

For the MVP, assume TikTok support is focused on a single short video asset per post. The video should be ready to publish before it is uploaded to Prepost.

Avoid relying on advanced TikTok features in the first MVP path, including:

  • multi-video posts;
  • complex audio editing;
  • stickers, filters, and effects;
  • advanced TikTok-specific scheduling options.

Manual-required publishing state

Some TikTok posts may need manual completion depending on API permissions, account status, or beta limitations. In that state, Prepost should clearly show that the post is prepared but requires the user to finish publishing in TikTok.

Manual-required does not mean the draft failed. It means Prepost prepared the content as far as the current integration allows.

Reconnect instructions

Use reconnect when TikTok access expires, the wrong account was connected, or permissions changed.

  1. Open Connected accounts in Prepost.
  2. Find TikTok in the account list.
  3. Choose Reconnect.
  4. Complete TikTok authorization again.
  5. Confirm the correct TikTok account appears in Prepost.

If reconnect still uses the wrong account, disconnect TikTok from Prepost, sign out of TikTok in the browser, sign in to the correct account, and start the connection again.
